RACE is short for "Remote Administration in distributed Computing Environments"
It is a system designed to help system administrators in the distribution and configuration of software on a huge number of distributed computers over a TCP/IP network.
The administrator can handle common things in just one place and easily honor all differences between the individual computers. RACE achieves these features by a means to define certain properties for single computers and groups of them. Software packages and certain configuration options are installed dependent on these properties.
